Price to change a catalytic converter in my car?

I took my cr for check engine light, computer said it need a catalytic converter. the guy charged me 950.00 for three. Does this sound right?

Yes, if you went aftermarket for replacement.

I would suspect dealer prices to be double or more...

One place you can use to do price checking on car repairs is on Driverside.com – you can drill down to specific cars cause I think the price will change based on the car. They are still in beta but they have a ton of data on what car parts and repairs should cost. I used them for my last repair.
