As all of you know, the price of gas is pretty high. While I don't mean to complain, other countries do have it worse, but it's ridiculous. How come we don't pull together and try and make this work? There are many alternative energies out there, but the most independent source of earthly materials is solar.

What are your ideas on solar energy? Don't you think it would benefit the world in good ways (pollution, money, etc.)? We're all depending too much on the ground beneath our feet and it seems like it costs too much to depend on it anymore.

What about boycotts? If we continue this way, all the large businesses and/or governments could make a negative impact on the way we live (eg., the Great Depression of the 1920's).

So ponder a bit, what exactly can we do? Who's even willing to help the country recover before it's too late and we drop into recession? Things aren't so bad now, but look at the facts and stats of the last few years... what do you have to say?

  1. I'm old enough that my parents did'nt have a car, electricity or in door plumbing when they grew up. No reason it can't happen again.

  2. i have to agree, solar energy is a great idea. the reason i think no one is getting pissed is my mom says they put fluoride in our water, Hitler put fluoride in the water to keep the Jews from revolting.

  3. your opinion is the same as thousands of otheres but who will stand and fight

  4. well, like before any war we've ever had the same thing happened. then when war was finally at its peak- we had a poor and starving population. but this war will be MUCH bigger. its not about oil. its a religion war. all i can say is prepare for the worst

  5. "money is the root of all evil" can be applied to how america is addicted to oil. Big companies have it in with people of power in the government-every man for himself. Relying on biofuels only raises the cost of food b/c corn takes over crops that could be used for growing food staples in our diet such as wheat for bread. And solar/wind power is too weak/long for our needs. face it people, our societys going to collapse;we arent meant to survive forever, we're too corrupt.

  6. Alternative energy sources are still extremely inefficient and do not generate enough energy for all of our nation's needs. This is to be expected when you consider that the technology relatively new compared to the burning of fossil fuels. Right now, we can use these sources to supplement our electricity use, but it isn't good enough right now to fully supplant it.

You talk about a boycott, but the question is, a boycott of what? Electricity? Using our cars? When the prices go too high, that's what we'll need to do anyways. When that happens, businesses will lower prices to meet the lower demand. This is called price-seeking behavior, and that's exactly what the market's going through right now.

Yes, this is not pleasant...it means we'll be paying higher prices for our current standard of living. In the United States, our standard of living is extremely high. Now the price is catching up to our habits. It was fun while it lasted, but now we have to adjust our lifestyles accordingly. It sucks, but isn't a disaster scenario by any means.
