Prices for Car Paint Jobs?

Question

Hi, I just got a car from an old friend and am wondering what it would cost to have it repainted (just an estimate). It is a small 2001 honda accord.

for a good paint job it will run at least 800+, The only way I would let maaco do it if I preped it myself and I know you don't know how. You can ask around in your area like car clubs or go to the BBB. about shops.

i agree with pat.s you get what you pay for basically. go to 3 or 4 shops get est. find the one you can afford.

You may be surprised by this, but I'd say take it to maaco.

They actually do decent budget paint jobs.

I'm assuming you are not going to any car shows, you just want a nice looking straight car. So in my opinion, go to a maaco shop in your hood. check out some of their work.

depends. a correctly done paint job will probably cost arounf $1500. those $200 ones will peel and bubble in a month

A good job on that car would be in the neighborhood of 3 to $4,000.

I do not recommend Maaco. I personally dealt with them and they did a horrible job. My '98 Jeep was in need of a new paint job so I decided to get Maaco. I paid about 1,000, if i remember correctly, to have their "signature" package done. The first day the quality seemed excellent and service was great. However, after a week the paint began to bubble and peel. I took it back and they repainted it. Same thing happened again. So I confronted the manager and he accused me of purposely destructing the paint, conflict arouse; i mean come on why would i waste my time and day for that? Anyways, I went to a local body shop, that was quite popular, and got the paint job done for around 1,600. A bit more expensive but definitely worth it. But i suggest you research local body shops before committing to one. Make sure they have a state of the art painting booth and their facilities are tidy.

That depends on what level of quality you expect.

Earl Scheib and Maaco will do the job for around $200 or so.

Most body shops will charge nearly $1000 to paint the whole car.
