Prices for housesitting??

some ppl we know want us to housesit meaning we stay at their house while they are gone and pet sit. it will be for 9 days how much do you think i should charge??

Around ten per day but I am not a professional. If you have to do any chores or anything (not including cleaning up behind yourself), then up the price by five dollars per chore.

I do this alot for alot of people. $40 a day is beyond reasonable for 1 dog/cat. Charge them an extra 100 (for the 9 days) for each additional dog and $50 (for the 9 days) For each additional cat.

Housesitters rarely get paid anything.  You have a free place to stay and utilities.  You pay for long-distance phone calls.  If you have to do anything more than keep the house tidy, routine pet care, water plants, and bring in the mail, then you can charge for the time doing that.  Examples of additional work for payment: weed the garden, heavy-duty cleaning, painting, repair work, etc.

Well it's not quite as simple as baby sitting for a evening.

You have to be there 24 hours a day.

If there is a water leak or a electric short you have to have the authority to choose a repair person and funds to pay the person.

What if they have a animal that gets sick you  have to be able to get it care.Then you should get a release to protect you in case you make a decision that causes damage even though you meant no harm.

I'd want enough to cover my food and transportation and some amount equal to the minimum wage plus about 2.00 an hour figure it as a 8 hour day. Times about 7.00 or 8.00 a hour.Or about 56 to 64 dollars a day.

If they are friends then i'd cut it down quite a bit but remember if they are friends they would want to compensate you fairly not get you for slave labor wages. Low ball price 15 to 30 dollars a day.

After all they care enough to leave you with their most loved and costly possession.

I figure the amount of time spent each day in care of the pets, plants and home and charge $20 and hour.
