I'm going to visit Spain and Italy over Spring Break and I might be doing some shopping... What are the costs of buying stuff like meals and other common items in Spain and Italy versus the US?

  1. I live in Spain and visit Italy. The cost of living in Spain is much cheaper than Italy. The cost of wine in Italy for instance, the Spanish wouldn't pay anything like that. Fuel is expensive compared to Italy. Eating out is more expensive than Spain though Spain is catching them up. That is due mainly to the influx of British immigrants in Spain.

Both countries have warm and friendly people. Don't worry too much about the cost. Both are cheaper than the UK and the weather will be better.

  2. Well, I visit italy frequently, and as far as food and stuff goes you are looking at 10-12 dollars  per meal in touristy attractions, shop around as 99% of the time the menus are displayed in the front of the restaurant so you don't feel awkward leavin gif things are too expensive, be careful and ready carefully as many restaurants charge a sitting fee, or food is more expensive if you eat in.  ( mostly cafes) And drinks are really overpriced, so carry water bottles and crystal light packages because a pop is usually around $5-7 in touristy places. Or try a grovery store to buy drinks (much cheaper)
