Prices in panama?

Question

Is there any site where i can learn the prices for electronics sold in Panama... or just tell me, how many dollars should i pay for an ordinary camera, or you could give me a price interval, that would be just perfect...

Man it all depends on what you're looking for.  Prices here will be the same as those on Best Buy or Circuit City, so if you're in the US there aren't really that many bargains you will walk into.  Maybe large Flat LCD HDTV's or somethings like that maybe cheaper, and then you still have the problems of finding out if the manufacturer will honor an international warranty or will they only consider it local.

Anyways check on www.panafoto.com and www.multimax.net for references on local prices on electronics.

Actually we have been shopping the 55" flat screen televisions for the house.  (we live in Rep of Panama) the prices of flat screen average $500 to $1000 more than in the US.  This year in Panama we have replaced two lap tops, one old camcorder, one digital camera.  The prices have all been slightly higher here than in the US.  However we did make our purchases in Panama because when we looked on line and factored in the shipping and handling, etc for the bringing the purchases into Panama it was really a push on the cost.  Then whe you looked at the repair and warranty factor of trying to return the item to a US based company that added more difficulty.

If you do end up purchasing in Panama to carry back to the US make sure the electronics you purchase have an INTERNATIONAL warranty.  Most of the major brands in Panama do, but not all.  I never checked to see if the items from the US offered International Warranties since we decided not purchase in the US

There are off name brands you never see in the US, Again I don't know about quality or warranty.  If you want to gamble you can make these purchases in the free zones.   You can save the taxes (5%) and get a cheaper item, or purchase an item with a familiar name brand and save the taxes.

Also, at Christmas time my Sister in law asked me if we would look for that new game machine that was released for the holidays.  Wasn't one to be found in the US so when we looked around here it was the same story.  Yes they were being advertised at certain stores but they were sold out.  And the price was about $100 more than the US.  I think the machine was a Wii or something like that.

Man, the electronic here in Panama is quite cheap compared to other countries.

For an ordinary camera, the cheapest, lets say 100 dollars in Panafoto. Calle 50. Panama City if you are in Panama.

Ranges are from 30 to thousands of dollars of what is Electronic devices.
