Pride and Prejudice essay help?

so I have to write a essay review on pride and prejudice that lists and discusses the historical background, the author's thesis and perspective, describes the content of the book and evaluates/critiques the book as to its readability, message, and relevance.

i think the author's thesis is the opening line of

"It is a truth universally unacknowledged that a man with a large fortune must be in want of a wife"

I think Jane Austen's perspective is that

pride and prejudice go together hand in hand

as to evaluating it, I would say it's very readable and the message is that pride and prejudice go hand in hand and as for the relevance I have no clue what to write.

I'm quite confused on this topic

as our teacher has not had a chance to explain in further detail

some of the stuff

help please :]

  1. Well, Jane Austen's first idea of naming this book was First Impressions, since at the ball, Darcy says to Elizabeth that she's not that pretty to dance with which made Elizabeth hate him and Wickham who was just 'acting' was good to Elizabeth.

because later in the story she found out the reality between Darcy and Wickham.

    hope that helped a little...:)

  2. Well, since pride and prejudice go hand in hand, you could say that Elizabeth's prejudices held her back, and her pride kept her from undoing what damage she had done.

She almost didn't end up with Darcy!

I'm not sure if this will help, but you could write about:

What would have happened if Elizabeth had totally let pride and prejudice ruled her life. [As in, if she hadn't gotten over it and admitted she loved Darcy]

What would have happened if she hadn't been prideful or had her prejudices in the first place.

Her pride kept her from admitting she'd been wrong in the first place.

The prejudices were against first impressions, and rich bachelors being jerks, I think. =]
