  1. You should definitely try to read Pride and Prejudice.  It is an excellent book and the plot/story line moves pretty quickly.

If you get stuck, you can always watch the 1980 BBC film version which is approximately 6 hours long and quotes directly from the text.

Good luck and enjoy your adventure with Jane Austen.

  2. yes you can if you really try

however it would be better if you just started at the beginning and then watched the movie.

The best and most accurate movie is  http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0112130/

which of course is titled "pride and prejudice" however its 5 hours long and is almost as involved as the book.

    :)

great book next time don't put it off - it will always be in my top favorites!!

  3. If you're a fast reader and okay with older writing styles, yes. It's not a difficult book, as classics go. If you've read books like Little Women, Treasure Island, or Anne of Green Gables quickly and without problems, then you can probably do it.

  4. Yes, I think it's possible.  The writing is a bit tedious but not difficult to read.

There are a number of online study guides for Pride and Prejudice, and quite a few other resources on the web that can help you with this novel.  Most of them have quite a bit of good information.  Have a look at these sites, and you should get some help with your work.  If you do a search for Pride and Prejudice here in the Yahoo Answers search window you will find that quite a few questions have been asked here about this book, so that is another source of help.

  5. Yes, it's definitely possible, especially if you enjoy reading. The language isn't as antiquated as Shakespeare or anything, so you should be fine. If you don't think you can do it, go for one of the BBC mini-series, not the newer movie.
