Real Sociedad midfielder, Xavi Prieto, believes his side will perceive the draw with Granada in a different way if they manage to beat Sevilla on Thursday.
Philippe Montanier’s men were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Granada on the weekend. They failed to take advantage of Getafe’s slip up and are now sitting on the 8th position in the table.
Prieto said Granada made things difficult for them but admitted their intention was to come away with all the three points.
“We went with the intention to win and it was not possible.”
However, the captain stated that his side had the better chances during the match but still thinks the draw was a fair result and appreciates it.
“But we appreciate the point, which was probably just, even if we had more chances than them.”
The Spaniard also stated that his team will appreciate the point they got from Granada if they manage to win their next match against Sevilla. He is hoping that his side will win and welcome the New Year on a high.
“We will value it more if we win against Sevilla on Thursday. Hopefully we will achieve that and make a great start to 2013.”
Moreover, the 29-year-old remarked on Real Sociedad’s unbeaten run of six games in the domestic league, the Andalusian’s problems, and his position in the team.
Prieto revealed how his team has clarity and know what to do under Montanier.
“The team is increasingly clear with the way it is playing and the automatic selections. I think you know what to expect from us, home and away.”
He concluded his remarks on the fact that their upcoming encounter with Sevilla will be a dangerous one as the Andalusians are very desperate to get a positive result and try to salvage their season.
“Hopefully we can benefit, but we know that a wounded team can be dangerous.”
Sociedad’s recent run of fine results in the Primera Division has placed them in a healthy position. They can now fight for a spot in Europe as they sit on the
8th position with 22 points.
