Prima Porta primed to win Novices’ Hurdle – Sedgefield Preview
Prima Porta is expected to show a big run at Sedgefield racecourse on Tuesday, March 13 in an effort to win John Wade Equine And Rubber Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
The high-stakes Class 4 contest of 2m4f distance will begin at 1:45 (GMT). The total prize money for the event is £2,534.
The Evan Williams-trained bay mare is geared up to run against 11 rivals including D ‘Gigi, Alimure, Bach Peddling, Ballade De La Mer, Cashel Rose, Ethan’s Millie, Flame Of Dixie, Glaced Over, Loch Dhu, Named After Nina and Toto Corde meo.
Prima Porta hiked her confidence level to a great extent by bagging a big victory in his last outing at Southwell on February 15, 2012. Prior to this, she had finished fourth in a race on November 12, 2011.
Since making her debut in August 2008, the six-year-old brilliant runner has been performing well but she poses to be somewhat inconsistent.
As a whole, the maverick mare has won 3 out of his total 22 starts to date. The recent triumph looks to have boosted up her morale significantly. At the moment, she is awash with form which will surely lend her a great hand in today’s showdown.
If Prima Porta manages to capitalise on her fresh form, she will make a big impact in the race. Her chances to finish first are as high as 80 percent.
Out of the favourite mare’s competitors, Loch Dhu and Toto Corde Meo look to be tough enough, and each of the duo can give tough time to Prima Porta.
Loch Dhu bagged the first and last two victories of her career during May-June 2011. Alistair Whillans’ bay mare finished fourth and third in two subsequent outings during the month of July.
The talented mare is supposed to show a decent run in today’s contest.
On the other hand, Toto Corde Meo ran with 5-4 favourite tag in her maiden outing on December 15, 2011 and finished first against 13 opponents. The Tim Vaughan-trained young mare notched up third spot in her second and last start on January 2. She will too
run confidently today.
By and large, it is going to be rip-roaring contest which will be packed with a lot of thrill. Prima Porta will have to apply utmost effort in a bid to make a breakthrough. Let us see how she manoeuvres success to her favour. Good luck to her.
