Primaeval primed to perform well in Palace Stakes
Primaeval seems to be the strongest candidate to claim the ace title of the Buckingham Palace Stakes (Handicap), a high-profile Class 2 contest that is going to be held at Ascot racecourse on Friday, June 22. The action is scheduled to start at 5:35 (GMT).
On the good to soft track of 7 furlongs, the James Fanshawe-trained veteran gelding will have to face 28 rivals including some bigwigs like Emilio Largo, Tariq Too, Imperial Djay, Global Village and Haamaat. The prize purse contains £46,688.
Primaeval is keen to complete his hat-trick by winning this race. The six-year-old maverick sprinter marvellously accomplished a grand triumph each on March 31 and May 24, 202 while being a red hot favourite for both the events.
Earlier, the brilliant horse had gained a runner-up rank on January 21. Interestingly, he ran each of his last four races with a favourite tag.
As a whole, the son of Pivotal out of Langoustine has won 7 of his total 21 starts to date. At the moment, he is awash with winning confidence that will lead him well on his way towards the finish line today.
If Primaeval manages to sustain his stamina, he will have up to 90 percent chances to finish first in the Palace Stakes.
However, Emilio Largo will not let Primaeval thrive easily as the Sir Henry Cecil-trained bay gelding has gained a lot of fighting spirit after finishing first in his last outing on May 29, 2012.
Overall, the experienced horse owns a terrific track record, having 50 percent success ratio to his credit. The last year proved to be greatly lucky for him as he accomplished a marvellous hat-trick of triumphs during June-July.
Thus, the son of Cadeaux out of Gloved Hand is poised to make a big impact in today’s marathon. There is likely to be a fierce duel between Primaeval and Emilio Largo. Let us see who of the two manages to turn the tables.
Tariq Too will too do well today. The Amy Weaver-trained gelding has won 5 of his total 14 starts so far. His last conquest on June 9 spiked up his morale to a great extent.
