Primaeval to return strongly in Fly London Southend Airport Handicap at Royal Ascot
Primaeval is still not fully exposed over seven furlongs. On his penultimate outing at this trip, the 6-year-old was an easy winner at Goodwood. No one should judge him on his latest appearance, when Royal Ascot’s soft surface was no use to him.
James Fanshawe’s charge has lot to offer over this distance, and one can easily expect him to find the key to success in the Fly London Southend Airport Handicap, going down at Ascot on Saturday, September 08, 2012.
After enjoying a wonderful season, the son of Pivotal took a short break at the end of last year. He started his 2012 campaign with a huge bang in late January. In the hands of Jamie Spencer, he grabbed the well-deserved runner-up spot at Meydan.
An excellent act boosted his confidence, which he utilised on the following two occasions. Prior to his classy win at Goodwood, the Foncey Syndicate-owned proved too good for the rivals at Kempton.
Under Stevie Donohoe, he did not face any trouble whatsoever in capturing the first place in the New William Hill iPhone App Conditions Stakes. There is nothing wrong with his rhythm. The conditions were too testing last time, thus it was almost impossible
for him to get a notable place.
The going is good to firm today, which is a massive plus for Primaeval. According to the plan, the 7-furlong meeting will be started off at 15:45 GMT. The class 2 meeting carries a big cash prize worth £51,752.
Primaeval has a very good chance, but there is a predictably long list of viable alternatives, headed by Imperial Guest. The 6-year-old has been performing quite consistently over the last couple of months.
After missing the gold only by nose, the George Margarson-trained managed to add the finishing touch, and grabbed an easy win over Arnold Lane at the end of last month.
Bertiewhittle and Field Of Dream are also two powerful runners, but Imperial Guest seems to be the biggest threat to Primaeval.
The punters don’t need to be confused, because James Fanshawe’s trainee will be able to tackle this danger, as the conditions are massively in his favour. We wish the best of luck to all the horses.
