I would like to become one but i don't know if i'll be able to re-take my Science GCSE.

I then read into becoming a Classroom Assitant or a Learning Mentor.

Could you please give some USEFUL help & advice on any of these job titles?

  1. ETS.org has a list of praxis you can take and become certified as a elemetery teacher, for an assistant some states only require 60 credit hours. Also  with a school website for their requirements.

  2. all official info about becoming a teacher at

    www.tda.gov.uk/Recruit.aspx

  3. It is quite common for students at the start of their courses in Further and Higher Education to do re-sits if they wish for more GCSE's.Many people do courses and sit more exams, even up to Degree level and beyond,up to Doctorates, just for the fun of self improvement.A science GCSE is not essential to enter a Primary and Junior Teaching course, unless that is, you wish to specialise in the Sciences.

  4. Im a learning support worker (classroom assistant) and i absolutely love it. I do basically all the same things as the teachers but dont have all the horrid paperwork. its great, the only downfall is the pay is far less. very rewarding job and the hours are far less than the teacher too.

  5. A couple of things.

You don't need Science GCSE to become a teacher,

Secondly I know a lot of Teaching Assistants who would love to become teachers but have left it just too late.  Some have even unsuccessfully pursued a degree while working.  They didn't finish it.

I don't know how old you are, but I would get a week's experience in a local school and then decide what to do.  If you possibly can become a teacher then do.  It's thebest job in the world.
