Primary sources for....?

re-introducing species into a new environment.

like my assignment is to write a scientific paper on the reintroduction of say, the european starling in north america, but i can ONLY use primary sources

where can i find these?!??!?!

  1. Pick the species you are interested in.  Go to wikipedia or other sites that compile information.  Wikipedia is a secondary site, not a primary source, but if you go to the bottom and click on the citations for that animal, it will take you to excellent primary articles on the species of your choice.


  2. Try http://www.jstor.org/.  Use the search key to sort through hundreds of online journal archives.

  3. First off I'd make a list animal reintroductions that interest you.  Then look online to see how extensive and deep the material / resources are for each specific animal.  This will help you meet the obligation of relying on primary resources much easier for you.

    I think the most studied reintroduction program ever in North America was a wolf population to Yellowstone National Park.  There are two links below.

    This was very controversial and is still a hotly debated topic throughout the Yellowstone region.  Great deal of resources and informtaion on the internet about that.
