Prince Bishop gives Godolphin Racing its only victory through the fourth fixture of the Dubai World Cup Carnival 2012
The fourth fixture of the Dubai World Cup Carnival was held on 20th January, 2012, at Meydan, which comprised of four handicaps with the feature race being the Group 2 Cape Verdi, sponsored by Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Handicap.

The other three included the Swaidan Trading Company – VDL Handicap, SMKA – MY by Honeywell Handicap, and Al Naboodah Travel & Tourism Handicap.
Godolphin Racing had eight entries on the card, but none for the Group 2 Cape Verdi, possibly due to the complete faith in Mahbooba’s victory that seemed inevitable to many after her memorable success in the Al Rashidiya Trial on 5th January,
2012, and before that, her victory in the UAE 1,000 Guineas, last year.
Soumillon said:
"She is a very good filly as we saw all last year, both here and in Europe. I needed to ask her for an effort turning for home but she then picked up well and quickened away”.
Assistant trainer to Kock, Trevor Brown added:
"That means we have plenty of options as she stays further, handles the Tapeta and clearly likes quick ground. I will have to talk to Mike and see how she is in the morning but I would imagine the Cape Verdi, for fillies and mares could be an option”.
The statements that came from her jockey and trainer were almost as if she had won the race without even running in it.

The race, however, was won by Al Raihe trained First City, while Mahbooba was second, sent off as the 2 to 5 favourite for the race. Finishing third after the winner was Reem, De Kock’s second entry in the race.
The Swaidan Trading Company – VDL Handicap was won by M. bin Shafya trained Jamr, while the runner up of the race was Mahmood Al Zarooni's Measuring Time. Finishing the race behind the runner up was Sirvino.
The race had two more entries from Godolphin, entered by Saeed bin Suroor. The 2 to 1 favourite Club Oceanic came fifth, and Royal Revival was sixth.
The SMKA – MY by Honeywell Handicap was won by Blue Panis, and the second to get through the track was Saeed bin Suroor trained Masteroftherolls.

Other two entries by the same trainer, Start Right, the 3 to 1 favourite was fourth, and Do It All was fourteenth.
Finally the Al Naboodah Travel & Tourism Handicap was won by Prince Bishop, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, while stablemate, Spring Of Fame was second.
Thus, out of the eight Godolphin Racing entries, one won and three were placed.
