I just read this article about charles poor man having to use his wine supplies in his car.

This beggars belief, when us mere mortals are just trying to earn enough to put petrol in car to get to work the next day.GRRRRRRRR.lol

  1. The poor chap only made $32,000,000 last year.  He can run it on anything he wants.

  2. Yeah, makes you sick doesn't it??? Lets hope that Customs and Excise catch up with him and charge him for running an illicit distilliary....diguised as an Aston Martin!!!!

  3. Brainstorm, what is your contribution to lessening your global footprint? How is it stupid to use something that would be thrown away and convert it into a useable fuel?I can't abide the man but this is most certainly NOT stupidity.

  4. Charles will use whatever substitute for fuel that is green;I dare say he will experiment with many sources because he is interested in organics and the environment. But wine? Surplus wine turned into fuel, how innovative!

And to correct a wrong answer:the Prince of Wales has ALWAYS paid taxes.Perhaps the poster should read REPUTABLE sources of information. What will he,and other republican supporters do if they get their way and they find out the hard way that an elected government is much more expensive, wasteful and vitriolic? In the US,our government parties do not work together for the common good. Each senator and congressman seems to be working to better their own economic siutautions and that of their cronies. How would citizens of the UK like to pay for their own health insurance premiums? For a decent one in my state that starts at $200 a month American dollars if you are young, and goes up as you age.My rate went up to over $700 a month(and that doesn't compare to what it will be when I am old).Does the Health System in the UK routinely let the mentally ill walk the streets;many of our homeless folks are ill.Our elected government is far from perfect;we've gone through a Depression, complete with the failure of the Stock Market, soup kitchens. We've gone through several recessions;it's pretty bad now with people losing their homes, gas  and food prices going up due to inflation. The rich are getting very rich, the middle class is disappearing and it's not due to a monarchy, but to a duly elected clod of a president and fools in congress and the senate, not to mention the state politicos!Maybe the monarchy could use some streamlining and be more like the Spanish monarchy and some others like Sweden and Denmark, but it doesn't need to be done away with completely.Economic situations are bad all over, and it can't be blamed on the monarchy!

  5. He doesnt use wine he use methenol and he is doing his bit for the enviroment. In fact he isn't using petrol at all so thank him for that so there is more for those who need it and it proves cars can run on other items rather than just oil!

  6. daveygod, you are being less than honest by saying that he pays no tax.He does pay tax and lots of it too.The Aston Martin was converted to run on excess wine, that would have been poured away.I think he is doing a good thing, even though I don't like him.

  7. it's called fuel efficiency dumbazz!! at least he's trying to save the earth.

  8. You should have read more carefully.

The car doesn't run on wine - it runs on ethanol derived from undrinkable wine surplus.

  9. You really should try reading the whole article (even if it is in The Sun) before jumping to conclusions. Prince Charles is in fact using surplus english wine and converting it to bioethanol. The EU prevents excess wine production being sold and one way to use it is to convert it to environmental fuel. In fact he only drives his Aston Martin some 300 miles a year.

Prince Charles' other cars have been converted to run on biodiesel from used cooking oil.

His household cut its carbon footprint by 18% last year - did you?

  10. If you actually read the article your link points to properly, the car was converted "to run on 100 per cent bioethanol fuel distilled from surplus British wine"

Get your facts right before slagging people off

  11. In the past Prince Charles used to be laughed at for his green fingers. Now he is looked up to by environmentalists of the world.

  12. The usually stupidity you expect from that man

  13. When you earn millions from your business and pay no tax, you can afford such luxuries.

This is just another example of them rubbing our noses in the brown stuff.

  14. A man who talks to his plants and uses something else other then petrol in his car - yes I can believe it.  I do not know why he just does not bother to put anything in the car and get Camilla to push the car for him. I have not read the article in the newspaper, I tend to pass over the bits about Prince Charles, I am not that bored that I have read about him.

He has millions in the bank so I suppose he wants to save some more money.

  15. Perhaps because he owns a few wineries but no oilfield!
