I once read that if Charlie becomes King, he will not rule under his own name as the title King Charles has a bad past or something! What name will he take then?

  1. He needs a complete break with the past, a name to show that he is a man of of the people, so hows about Bradley or Jaden ? in fact my favourite, good old Wayne would suit him to a "t " .

  2. I read a while ago that he wishes to be King George. George is one of his middle names.

  3. Not heard this reason before, although going on that one, I think Charles would fit him down to the ground.  I have heard he will reign (unfortunately) using another title but what that is I don't know.

  4. He could choose whatever name he likes... as long as it's royalty... Like Edward, Henry, Phillip, Arthur, James, William, Louis, Richard etc.

  5. he shouldn,t be king cos he married a divorcee and elizabeth the second ,s uncle edward had to abdicate to marry mrs simpson

  6. Most places I have read this say 'George', which is borne out by the other answerers here. Though I did once read 'Henry'.

George III was mad, of course, and he talked to plants, so it might actually be an appropriate choice.

  7. The rumour has been active for years now. It is speculated that when His Royal Highness becomes King, he will choose to be called by one of his other given names (his full name is Charles Philip Arthur George) because of the rather unfortunate fates previous King Charles' had - Charles I was executed, while Charles II was known for his frevolous lifestyle. It is also presumed that he will take the name George, in honour of his grandfather.

This is, however, pure speculation, never supported by any mildly trustworthy source. After all, wuite a few of the Kings named George weren't exactly popular as well.

Should Charles choose Arthur as the name he would succeed his mother, he would be King Arthur I, for there has never been a King in Great Britain or England with that name (yes, King Arthur from Camelor was almost certainly never a King, at least of England).

There has also never been a King with the name Philip in England or Great Britain, apart from King Philip II of Spain, husband of Queen Mary - but since he wasn't King of England in his own right (in England, that is), he is not counted.

  8. i think that he is called Charles Arthur Edward Louis as i unstained it he can pick any of these names when he becomes king. I am not sure if he could choose a name that he was not christened.

  9. He's a douche

  10. Idiot that what he is i think we shouldnt have a royal family it sucks

  11. King Chuck the First.

  12. can't help you, sorry fella, not heard that before.

  13. probably PRINCE ALBERT, cus hes a right royal p...ck

    LOL

  14. Floppy!  That man has the biggest ears I have ever seen.

  15. how about dom, ley,  or even  prawn,

  16. Of course he will rule under his own name.. you disrespectful plonkas

  17. i am not bothered, as i don't like him and have no interest in the man.

  18. Charles would not be the first royal to not rule under their first name. Victoria's son ruled under the name of Edward when his first name was Albert (named after dear old dad!!)

  19. Prince Charles may become George VII, both to honor his grandfather, George VI (r. 1936-52) and because "Charles" is too closely associated with the hapless House of Stuart:

---Charles I--Unable to control Parliament, Charles I dissolved the House of Commons and ruled alone for eleven years before he had to recall that body to solicit funding.  Parliament's reaction to Charles' heavy-handed approach brought about the English Civil War and his beheading in 1649 whereupon England was a Republic/ dictatorship until 1660.

---Charles II, the Merry Monarch, spent eleven years in exile before regaining the throne. Charles II's reign was marked by political intrigue, the Great Plague of 1665, and the Great Fire of London of 1666 (which wiped out the Great Plague).  Charles II fathered no legitimate descendants, although he did sire numerous illegitimate ones including both a direct ancestor of Lady Diana Spencer and Camilla Parker Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall.

---Bonnie Prince Charles, who went into exile after the Battle of Culloden in 1746, was known by his Jacobite supporters as Charles III.  Paradoxically, when Prince Charles  ascends the throne, Scotland may achieve its independence from England.

Prince Charles is not a direct descendant of any of these Charles, although he is a descendant of all the Hanoverian, Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, and Windsor Georges.  Princes William and Harry, however, are direct descendants of Charles I and II because of their Spencer ancestry.

Come to think of it, Prince Charles has achieved some notoriety precisely because he choose his mistress over his wife, so the title King Charles III (or perhaps IV to the Scots) is in many ways most appropriate.

  20. If Prince Charles succeeds his mother as monarch and uses his first given name as his regnal name, he would become known as Charles III. However, Prince Charles has considered rejecting that style when he accedes to the throne, because of its associations with Britain's bloody past.

The move would not be a first - three of the past six British monarchs, Victoria, Edward VII, and George VI, chose a regnal name different from their first given name. The most discussed alternative style has been "George VII", in honour of Charles's grandfather.

The move away from Charles stems from its associations with Charles I, who was beheaded in 1649 following the English Civil War, at the start of Oliver Cromwell's short-lived republic. The executed monarch's son, Charles II, spent 18 years in exile and returned to England in 1660 but was nicknamed "The Merry Monarch" because of his string of mistresses. Charles III is partially associated with the Catholic Jacobite pretender, Charles Edward Stuart (called Bonnie Prince Charlie), an enduring Scottish romantic figure, who claimed the throne as that style in the 18th century.

  21. I've read that Charles will honor his maternal grandfather King George VI and take that name, which is one of his middle names. The Prince of Wales is Charles Philip Arthur George;some people have even suggested that he take the name "Arthur" but most believe he will choose "George."Charles can choose any of his given names or take another if he wishes because it's his prerogative.I think that he'll choose "George" because his grandfather,George VI did such a splendid job as king:George VI did not want to become king, but because of Edward VIII's abdication, the job was thrust upon him.He led the country through some horrendous times during World War II;he never left his post, staying in London. He was in Buckingham Palace when it was hit by bombs.

  22. I am pretty sure if he ever gets crowned he will remain Charles.  People complained when they named their first son William (I perfectly good name - Dianna rejected Arthur) and people brought up another king also called William that was called "Silly Billy" in his hey day, so?
