Prince Charles to grace the 2010 Ryder Cup opening ceremony
To make things grand, The Prince of Wales will be visiting Celtic Manor on 29th September 2010. His visit seems to be intended to boost the morale of the European team on the second day of official practice for the 2010 Ryder
Cup.
Wow! Now that is Royal. According to the Prince’s schedule there, he would first meet both the European and U.S. team captains, Colin Montgomerie and Corey Pavin respectively, who in turn would introduce him to the members of their teams. Later, the Prince
will attend the official Ryder Cup Dinner at Cardiff Castle, where he will chat with the players. After that, he will proceed to the Millennium Stadium, where “Welcome to Wales” celebrations concert will take place.
Ryder Cup director, Richard Hills, said in an interview that the whole clan is very much excited and extremely honored by the fact that the prince would himself grace the resort. Wales is hosting the Ryder Cup for the first time. As for the Cup’s opening
ceremony, many red carpet stars would be making an appearance and there will be performances along with the official introduction of the team members. Dame Shirley Bassey, Katherine Jenkins and Catherine Zeta Jones are on the final list of performers.
These three ladies will perform with the inauguration song, after which Zeta Jones will anchor also. Moreover, a lot of buzz is hovering over the court of Montgomerie, who is currently asking his players to take rest before the final day, so that they meet
the Americans with fresh minds and bodies. However, except Rory McIlory and Ian Poulter, no one is ready to consider the advice.
Miguel Angel Jimenez told the media that he would rest, exercise a little, eat well and keep doing the same things as always. This signifies, of course, that he will continue inhaling his Cuban cigars and drinking Rioja wine while also cruising
in the streets around Costa del Sol in his sparkling red Ferrari. Well, he can afford it after all he stands in the list of top 10 richest golfers of all time.
Jimenez might yet be earning £1,375,661 from the upcoming events as he plans to appear in the Dubai Desert Classic, French Open and European Masters after the 2010 Ryder cup. Currently, the Spaniard has his eye on the Austrian Open title.
It could be his fourth tournament win this year after which he will probably be resting for the Ryder Cup.
This is it for the Ryder Cup news. What more is needed after the appearance of the Prince of Wales there. The upcoming week will be full of more gossip regarding the players and their issues. So, till then eat, relax and play lots of golf.
