The Spanish Prince has hailed the performance of the Reds in the European Championship, claiming that the World champions are unbeatable.
The heir to the Spanish crown, Prince Felipe of Asturias, has appeared more than pleased with the Spanish national side lifting the Euro 2012.
Prince Felipe expressed that La Roja were simply brilliant throughout the prestigious tournament and stressed that their head coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 del Bosque, has forged an excellent line-up.
La Furia Roja became the only side to have won the Euro twice in a row, after they defeated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 in the final of this year’s edition of the tournament on Sunday.
The match that took place at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev saw the Reds demolish the Blues with a final score of 4-0.
The only son of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346, was present at the final and took out the time to voice his jubilation as his country’s football team cemented its name in history.
Del Bosque’s men were tipped as heavy favourites even before the competition began. However, in the absence of key players such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629, many could hardly expect Spain to be European champions once again.
The history of the prestigious tournament was also playing a part against the Spaniards, as no other side ever won the competition back-to-back.
However, their performance in Sunday’s final surely sets the Spanish apart from all of their competitors.
It is probably because of this fact that Prince Felipe could not hold himself back when he dubbed the Spanish national side as ‘unbeatable’.
While talking to reporters, the Spanish heir apparent quoted:
"It is a luxury to be with a team that has given us so much joy," he told Telecino. "These players are unbeatable.”
“Sometimes it just isn't your day; Italy had the misfortune of having an injured player [having already made three substitutions]. At 2-0, it looked like the match was too close to call. The honour of leading a team that is doing all this is a massive thing
for Vicente del Bosque."
This is Spain’s third competitive international trophy in the last four years.
