Prince Fielder and Nick Castellanos carry Detroit Tigers’ essence to All Star proceedings – MLB

Detroit Tigers’ Manager Jim Leyland and General Manager Dave Dombrowski will be very pleased with what they saw from some of the Tigers during the All Star Break.
Nick Castellanos, a promising young third baseman had an excellent outing in Sunday’s All Star Future Game. The contest brought together some of the top Minor League players and the 20-year-old Castellanos showed just what he is capable of as he finished
the game with three hits.
His three hits also included a three run home-run that won him the Most Valuable Player Award. Castellanos is an extremely talented player and in an interview, Tigers’ third baseman Miguel Cabrera said that he is a natural hitter.
According to sources, Castellanos worked with Cabrera during the offseason to learn tricks of the trade and it will be interesting to see if he can break into Tigers’ big league roster next season.
"That's (an example of) how the Detroit Tigers are deep in their organization," Cabrera said. "We've got a lot of talent in the minor leagues, like Castellanos. We look forward to seeing Castellanos in Detroit."
Castellanos may find it tough to see time with the Tigers soon as Prince Fielder, Victor Martinez and Cabrera himself are lined up for next year. Initially, he might be given the opportunity to play as an out-fielder but that is the kind of risk he will
be looking to take early on in his career. He is agile and athletic and it should not be problem for him to showcase his talent at a new position.
"It was easy because I was young," he said. "I was able to do that. It was surprising at the same time, but it was my opportunity to play in the big leagues. When they gave me the opportunity, I wanted to work hard.”
Tigers’ first baseman Prince Fielder shined at the 2012 Home Run Derby as he hit 28 home-runs to win for the second time in four years. He clubbed baseballs as hard as possible to beat Toronto Blue Jays’ hitter Jose Bautista. Fielder showed the excited crowd
why he is considered to be one of the hardest hitters in the baseball.
