Prince Fielder delighted to be famous among Detroit Tigers’ fans – MLB News
According to a leading sports website, Prince Fielder has arrived at City of Detroit, the place where he always wanted to be. On arrival, the left handed striker met his new team-mates including Miguel Cabrera. Both hitters had a great time practicing at the Tigers’ home ballpark and the crowd around them loved the scenes.
"I know I grew up around Tiger Stadium and some of the fans," Fielder said Monday morning outside Joker Marchant Stadium, "But I didn't think they'd remember me that much. But seeing that they do, it's pretty awesome. I'm glad I'm part of it."
Fielder used to visit the place often when he was a kid. His father Cecil Fielder was a key member of the club and Detroit is the city where he started to play baseball. The 27-year-old stated that he and his kids are waiting to see him in Tigers’ uniform. Moving to Detroit will be a new beginning for Prince Fielder. Tigers’ fans have great respect and love for the hitter. They believe that Fielder was born to play for the Detroit; after all, they watched him grow up in the 1990’s.
Yesterday morning, he packed up his bags and drove his kids from Orlando to Lakeland. History repeats itself. Two decades ago, Fielder was learning the art of playing baseball in Lakeland when he was at the age of his kids.
"I just wanted to get here. I had nothing else to do. It feels good," he further added. "It feels normal. I'm just ready to get out there playing. We talked a little bit. He talked to my two boys, made them feel welcome. No, nothing too groundbreaking."
Fielder was absolutely sensational past season as he posted a decent .299 batting average. Hitting 38 home-runs with 120 RBIs, he helped Milwaukee Brewers secure memorable wins. However, he will be looking to work hard to maintain his form into the 2012 season as Tigers’ ballpark conditions are slightly different to those of the Brewers. He will be looking to stay with the Tigers for as long as possible considering it is the place where he loves to be.
