Prince Fielder may bid farewell to Milwaukee Brewers – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers’ Prince Fielder stirred the sentiments of his ardent fans on Tuesday, September 13 when he stated that it would be his last year in the team.
The announcement came just when the Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Colorado Rockies 6-2. The defeat was a big one, however, the fact that it was bracketed with the potential departure of Fielder just made it bigger.
There was apparently nothing new in the announcement. What is new is that it has now become official. Now that he has generated a new debate and forced many other teams to look at athe possibility of acquiring him in their team, Ryan Braun, one of Fielders
team-mates had his views to share.
Braun said, “I couldn't see why every team in baseball wouldn't want him on their team. Certainly, he will get some huge offers in the offseason. So for us right now, we are just trying to enjoy while we're together, enjoy the fact that he's still a member
of the Milwaukee Brewers and accomplish as much as we can this year."
There is hardly any doubt about the fact that Prince Fielder is one of the smoothest operators out there with his multifaceted talent. Having contributed to the victories of the Milwaukee Brewers all this while, the news of his leaving the team will be tremendously
shocking for the team. A shock that may take the team a very long time to recover from.
While the Milwaukee Brewers are among the top five teams with their 87 wins, making ascension quite fast, Prince Fielder was a valuable possession the team has had. Having played 150 games this season, there is a lot that Fielder has to his credit.
Being at-bat 530 times, he has scored 109 RBIs, having had 32 home-runs with 156 hits whereby his average stands at .294 with a .407 OBP and .949 OPS. His career average stands at .282 with over 986 games which also has 224 home-runs and 645 RBIs.
It will be very interesting to see how the team deals with the situation as the impact of Fielder leaving the team will rattle the Brewers’ management. He is a tremendous player with amazing talent. His contribution to the Brewers is immense, as he has led
the team to many victories over the past season. The loss of such an important player can have serious effects on the performance of the team and the other players as well.
It will be important for Fielder himself to choose what is best for himself. Whether he stays with the team or goes for a bigger team in the future, time alone will tell what he decides.
