Prince Fielder sparks as Milwaukee Brewers look for first division title in 29 years – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers are looking for the first division title in 29 years as they are few games away to attain this landmark achievement. With a player like Prince Fielder available to them, the Brewers seem unremittingly poised to do what might have been
unimaginable in the start of this season.
Prince Fielder has missed only 13 games in the last six seasons he has played with the Milwaukee Brewers. The fact that he has starred in 992 games makes him the only player in the Majors with more games than anyone else.
All the same, this season becomes more important for Fielder because it will be his last representing the Brewers. The last interview that he had with TBS, he said it would be the last year in the Brewers’ uniform.
"It's been great; unfortunately, this is probably the last year of the one-two punch," Fielder told TBS play-by-play man Brian Anderson. "But I think it's been good -- [five] years, him and me. Hopefully, we can go out with a blast."
But before he leaves, he wants to see his team win the first division title, come what may. There remains no doubt that he has remained one of the most powerful hitters in the club and the game’s history.
The fact that he will be leaving the Brewers has already caused enormous debate in the circles of his team, friends and fans. The most frank acknowledgement for the outstanding performance that Prince has exhibited and the service to the team came from the
team manager.
Ron Roenicke, when asked what he thought of Prince and his possible departure, said, "I can't worry about that too much. He's hitting fourth in our lineup. He's been unbelievable. Could we be where we are without him? Probably not."
However, the team does not want to remain completely reliant on a player’s individual performance alone. The fact that everyone wishes to contribute to winning makes the case stronger for the Brewers to win.
The Milwaukee Brewers are all set to play the upcoming three-game series against the Florida Marlins. With Prince Fielder still present, the Brewers will definitely be looking to put in a brilliant performance and have a blast before he leaves.
As Fielder leaves the Brewers, it will be interesting to see what impact his absence will have on the team. His dominating presence both on and off the field will definitely change the Brewers’ approach. Only time will tell how well the Brewers will be able
to adapt without Fielder next year.
