Prince Fielder’s free agency gets more attention after Yu Darvish’s arrival in MLB – MLB News
Star slugger Prince Fielder, whose free agency has got more importance after Japanese star Yu Darvish’s signing with the Texas Rangers, is no more in any hurry for his own potential contract with any top franchise.
In-fact he must be happy as Darvish’s deal getting done before his contract comes up. Fielder is expecting a huge budgeted lengthy contract and now feeling slight easy for his potential deal which might be coming from some top franchise in the coming days.
Some experts say, forget the Texas Rangers, who have spent hefty $60 million on Yu Darvish. Talking about Dodgers, they are not in position to sign Fielder for their poor financial conditions. Angels are also not interested as they recently signed Albert Pujols worth approximately $250 million.
However, the Rangers still have something to unveil in the coming days as recent statements from their top executives do suggest a keen interest in Fielder’s free agency. The Rangers president and CEO Nolan Ryan said earlier, “Our organization has had a really good feel for innovative ways of keeping talent in the pipeline. Ownership has supported us doing that. And we feel like when we can put a winning piece on the field, we've been able to act.”
Later, the Rangers GM Jon Daniels stated, “We feel he is a perfect fit for where we are. We've got a lot of young talent already in the majors and a next wave that is coming. We think things set up very well for us. Ultimately, it's all about winning, and we are bringing in a talented guy to help us win."
According a report, published in a renowned newspaper in US, the only team left with resources and actually in need of a good hitter is St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals also recently lost Pujols and want a new hitter who can once again give them jubilation of winning a World Series Championship. If Fielder does arrive in the Cardinals franchise, the new 2012 season will be quite different for other MLB teams to face the Cardinals with a full set of extraordinary individuals.
