Prince Fielder’s three RBIs help Milwaukee Brewers defeat Atlanta Braves 5-4 – MLB Update
First baseman Prince Fielder had three runs on three hits including three RBIs to help the Milwaukee Brewers defeat the Atlanta Braves 5-4 at Miller Park, Milwaukee, on April 6.
Prince is the Brewers’ hitter who showed his skills for the first time in this regular season over the Braves. He was unable to score a run until 11 at-bats but then he made a single with two bases loaded in the first inning off Mike Minor.
Minor had a bad start as he walked the bases while Fielder squeezed a single run to left-field to go-ahead of the Brewers’ by 2-1. Fielder struck an RBI to Minor in the fifth inning of the game and led off the Brewers with a 5-1 score. He was on top in the
Brewers’ scoring runs.
In the fifth inning, Fielder had a one-out single on Rickie Weeks drive which ended in a successive close up, as he finished the game at a plate appearance.
Fielder expressed his excitement and said, “I've been feeling good the whole time. Unfortunately in baseball, it doesn't matter if you feel great or not. Results aren't in my control, but I can control my approach and control my attitude."
The Brewers’ manager Ron Roenicke was content with Fielder’s performance. Speaking to reporters, he said, “It was nice to see him get those RBIs today. He's going the other way, that's nice to see. There's a time to go the other way and that was the ideal
time to do it.”
Milwaukee’s starting pitcher Marco Estrada joined the team in place of Zack Greinke, who suffered an injury and went to the disabled list. Estrada was a Minor League player before the start of the regular season. He had a nervous start due to his first game
but gained in confidence from the support of his team-mates.
After playing his first game, Estrada said, “It feels good. I wish I hadn't thrown that ball down the middle to Heyward, but other than that, it feels great and we won.” Estrada permitted just a solo homer to Jason Heyward in the sixth inning but John Axford
took the lead with his one run.
Axford gave an exemplary start to the Brewers as Alex Gonzalez was struck-out, Matt Young was ground out and Eric Hinske was retired on his wonderful deliveries. Axford also offered runs in the start of the 9th inning but later got his first save
of the game.
The combination of Kameron Loe, Zach Braddock and Axford seemed much too strong during the game against the Braves and the Brewers’ bull-pen gave up only nine runs in 13 innings.
