Question:

Prince Harry - Are We supposed to feel sorry for him? He needs to realise he can't live two different lives.

Lets get one thing straight. Prince Harry is a member of the Royal Family. I think a lot of people are forgetting that, when they say 'good on him for going to Afghanistan'. It is in the country's national interest to keep the third in line for the throne 'safe'. Its the 'Poor Me' attitude that Harry has that gets me. He says this is the only chance for him 'to be normal', and be anonymous when he patrols the streets of Afghanistan. The bottom line is he's not just a regular guy, he's a Royal. If he doesn't want to be a Royal (which is how it comes across, as he also says he doesn't like England), then he should quit The Royal Family, give his money to charity and then have the 'anonymous' life he longs for. But until he does that, he's got to realise he can't lead 2 very different lives.

  1. Hold on Katrina!  We do NOT chose our destinies.  There is nothing wrong in wanting to be "normal" and not given preferential treatment.  Let him grow up and find his feet.  He is barely out of the cradle...how many men of that age know exactly what they want in life?

  2. AT LEAST HE TRIED THOUGH. IF HE WOULD HAVE NEVER DONE THIS THEN HE WOULD ALWAYS HAVE SOME SORT OF REGRET. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO DO THAT ROYAL OR NOT. I FEEL SORRY FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE A PASSION, AND HAVE AN OBSTACLE BIGGER THAN THEY, IN THE WAY.

  3. I feel sorry for him.

He isn't a celebrity... he didn't choose to be famous.

It was put on him by birth.

And as for him just stopping being a Royal, would you abandon your family so easily?

  4. I think Harry should be pleased that he was able to see some active duty. The Royal Family did lose some members during military conflicts during World War I and II,so it's not a question about the family's willingness to serve.Harry has been very vocal about wanting to serve and he did get the opportunity to quietly do so. Unfortunately, some press member let it be known that he was serving and where he was serving. Now,because he's famous and an attractive target,he's got to go home.Harry hopefully will realize that there are many people who understand that it's not his fault that he can't serve the full tour.I think Harry's problem is with the anti-royalists and others who are envious of his wealth and position in society;there are many people who will say that just because he's royal he doesn't have to serve, and other such nonsense.I think Harry is quite aware of all the negative stories circulating out there about him and he wants to let people know that the stories are not accurate.Being the second son of an heir to the throne isn't always easy and I think Harry knows that he has some resposibilities to not only keep safe, but keep his regiment safe as well.He realizes that there are somethings that he can do and somethings that he can't.Sometimes he readily accepts the fact, but when it comes to his reputation being unfairly tarnished(because he can't serve)he gets upset.Harry will find other ways to serve, eventually.

  5. Spoiled rotton rich kid, boring s**+-.

  6. From what I saw on TV it seems that he just needed something to do and the only reason that his identity got leaked is because he was tired of being over there and knew he would be sent back if everyone found out.

  7. To all of you:

His mother once said it is always prudent to have a SPARE....

Meaning for the good of the country and the continuation of the Windsor's and their pompous ***.

He didn't chose to be a royal just like many people didn't choose to loose their jobs but he has a responsibility, if not then why not do away with the whole bunch of royals?

  8. He didn't ask to be born royal, and to give it up would be to deny his family. That's a lot to ask of anybody. I think to "be normal" for him was like a new-found freedom that I can understand. Like when my hubby takes the kids out and I get to stay at home by myself. Doesn't mean I don't like my family--but a break is nice sometimes after all. I feel kinda bad for Harry, for a few minutes at least.

  9. poor me attitude .. ive not interpretted any reprts to mean this ...

how does a heir to the throne gain any valid experience from being kep wrapped in cotton wool all his life.

  10. Nobody needs to feel sorry for the guy, just leave him be and get off the bandwagon of " Lets have a go at people in public profile".He is just a young guy trying to do the impossible, like, keep everyone sweet. Go for it Harry, enjoy what you want in life.

  11. Oh well,Harry,s had his few weeks showcase being photographed in a bunker with a gun in his hand.Hey ho,it,s back to guzzling down the booze, shooting at defenceless animals(not the taliban)and keeping the night clubs of Britain going. It,s a hard life!

  12. I feel sorry for him.  He didn't ask to be a Royal.  He asked to be a soldier and some dumb *** american website can't respect his wishes.

He's a normal guy, who happens to have been born to a Prince.  He has little say over what he wants to do with his life, as the media et al all seem to think they can tell him what to do.  How would you like to be told what job you can and can't do just because of who your parents are?

His dissappointment must be immense, and he has now put his unit in jeopardy due to his withdrawal, leaving them a man short.

Thanks Yanks....what a great job you've done for our Boys and Girls out there!!!

  13. I feel sorry for myself.

  14. Here here Katrina.

I think poor rich Harry has enjoyed playing soldier in Afghanistan but I think his few weeks roughing it would soon wear thin if he couldn't return to his life of utter privilege.

  15. Over here in America you don't see the Bush daughters or  congress peoples children in Iraq. And I believe only one senators child is overseas. What Harry has done says alot about his courage and how he feels about his countrymen a

and women. Think about it Andrew was in the service right. Isn't it expected of the male royals? And come on he's third in line! That family has serious longevity. He needs to find his own way. Doubtless he will ever sit on the throne. I think he is a brave young man and your country should be very proud of him. Would it be better if he became just another rich spoiled partying royal? Be proud of him,he has a very hard life. Can you blame him for wanting a chance to just be Harry. Look what happened to Diana! I don't know anyone who would want to be constantly followed around and scrutinized like that. Give him a break.

  16. The publicity machine is fulfilled and the medals and decorations will flow as with all royals this background publicity is important in years to come.

Spare a thought for the real troops who volunteer for service and are not kept with a Gurkha bodyguard attachment and a cotton wool existence save to come out for the cameras and posterity.

Our troops come home, are cast aside and forgotten.

The words "Cannon fodder" springs to mind, as with the first and second world wars, do our young troops not see this,

the glory goes to the privileged and the dead.

God Bless our troops all over the world they don't have an agenda, others do.

  17. People were not happy when he didn't go to Iraq.

They are still not happy now that he has gone to Afghanistan.

The guy can't do right for doing wrong, can he?

  18. He won't be king anyway. Harry's called the 'spare' for a reason lol

  19. I think you're being a bit harsh.  I wouldn't fancy his lot.  After all it's not like he's ever actually going to become king, so what's he supposed to do with his life - spend it opening supermarkets?

  20. Yah, I feel sorry for him. He's got too much "fire" to be in the royal family. He can't be king so he's looking for his place.
