  1. Jimmy the Greek

  2. The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh was formerly styled and titled as HRH Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark from the House of Oldenburg. When he became a British subject Prince Philip took the surname Mountbatten, which is an anglicised version of his mother's German family name, Battenberg (changed due to high anti-German feelings among the people during WWI).

Note: The current personal surname of the Queen's descendants is "Mountbatten-Windsor", which all of their children and grandchildren have used in their legal documents.

  3. I always thought it was 'Thegreek'.

  4. Prince "I always say the wrong thing and look daft" Philip.

  5. Battenburg, thus the pretty lace. The queen thought it sounded too German, so she made him change it to Mountbatten.  Ick.  I liked the original name better. I'll bet he does too.

  6. To be absolutely correct, when Prince Phlip became engaged to our present Queen, his title was Prince Philip of Greece, he did not, in fact, have a suranme as we have in Britain.  The Greek Royal family gave him permission to change his religion from Greek Orthodox to Church of England and with the encouragement of his uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten, he took the surname of Mountbatten.

  7. Mountbatten

  8. Mountbatten

    Prince Charles Mountbatten... just imagine;)

  9. Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten.
