Prince William made a Knight of the Garter..........why?

Question

Apart from being born with a silver spoon in his mouth and his Granny pulling a few strings, what has he done that has earned him an honour which sees him joining the most senior British order of chivalry? Surely entering into a fire engulfed building while others are running out or facing possible death everyday in Afghan or Iraq must be worthy of such an honour?

Tradition my dear boy..........plus if one day you are going to be the Head of the Order then it is surely a pre-requisite?  Not sure if Charles has it or not but this will show William is another step closer to becoming King - let's face it Charles'  'honour' is very thin on the ground with the Camilla farce he should be side stepped but that is for another question.  :)  I think there are on 50 allowed at any time - it literally is dead mens shoes terratory.

He needs to be seen as doing something, Unlike Harry's medal this is totally undeserved but by the time he is king and head of the Army Navy and Air Force people will have forgotten this and he will be respected as their leader because he has this Honor.

But to be quite honest the title doesn't mean a thing.

It's traditional for the heir to the throne to be made a Knight of the Garter;hopefully William will live up to the honor. He WILL be seeing service in each of the military branches that he will head when he becomes king.I hope he serves with distinction,but there ARE restrictions put on the types of duties he will take!

Because of an accident of birth,if he had anything about him he would say no thank you Granny I haven't done anything to deserve it.I also noticed he had a Medal on his uniform and he hadn't even finished his training.( During his initial training)
