Princely Player hot favourite for David James Foundation "National Hunt" Novices´ Hurdle
Princely Player has been rated as hot favourite for the David James Foundation "National Hunt" Novices´ Hurdle at Exeter in England on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. The winning horse will be awarded a cash prize of £2,599.
The going will be soft in the 2 mile 3 furlong race, which is scheduled to start at 17:55 GMT, and a total of nine runners have been attracted towards it. Their names are as follows: Princely Player, Curtain Razer, King Edmund, Fitandproperjob, Arctic Gunner,
Hurricane Henry, Whenindoubtdoit, Knight Blaze and Kilderry Dean.
Out of the above mentioned runners, Knight Blaze is doubtful for the race. She was in decent form, as her most recent outing saw her finish runner up. She could have managed to win her first race over hurdles today, but will have to wait for another opportunity
now.
Looking at the overall record of the other runners, the bookmakers have given the best odds to Princely Player, who is in spectacular form at the moment. He will definitely attract a lot of bets from the punters today.
The five-year-old gelding has taken part in a couple of races over hurdles and has done well in both of them. He finished on top of the table once whereas secured the runner up spot in the other one.
In his most recent outing, the Philip Hobbs’ trainee was unable to challenge the winner and had to settle for the second position. He ran well at the start, but seemed to run out of gas in the end.
Princely Player will be partnered by veteran jockey, Richard Johnson, who has done extremely well in races over hurdles, winning 325 of them. His strike rate is also impressive, which shows that he is a consistent performer.
On the other hand, Curtain Razer might also make an impression in the race today. He has participated in four races over hurdles, winning none of them. The best he could manage was a runner up position once, which shows that he can challenge his opponents
today.
The Paul Nicholls’ trainee will be partnered by Daryl Jacob, who has earned 86 victories over hurdles.
Other than the top two favourites, King Edmund and Fitandproperjob might also attract a few bets in their favour, as they are quality runners.
