Princess Cruise Employment?

Has anyone worked for Princess Cruise in Valencia, Ca?

I have an interview coming up and was wondering if someone could give me some pointers. I am applying for financial analyst positions and not entirely sure what I should know.

Also, for those that have worked there ...how is the work environment and people? Were your jobs satisfying and rewarding.. If not, why did you quit?

  1. My freind worked in Santa Clarita, California (corporate headquarters) for Princess.

She also worked for them in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

She loved working for them but found California to expensive and Florida too hot.

She quit to take a job with IBM in NC

  2. I haven't worked at Princess, but I know a bunch of people who have.  What I've heard they are:

    - A friendly, competent group of people.

    - Serious about developing their people.  Lots of training is available.

    - Technologically innovative.  They were the guys who developed the revenue management system and online booking system now also used by several other lines in the Carnival Corp family.

For your interview, be prepared to show that you know about and are interested in the product (Princess cruises) as well as financial analysis.

Read up on their website, and be sure you understand their fleet and their business.

If you feel really ambitious read Devils on the Deep Blue Sea, especially the boring last chapters which are all about Carnival's acquisition about Princess.  Actually, it's all about the financial details so maybe it wouldn't be boring for YOU.  =)

(BTW, most senior execs in the industry have read Devils on the Deep Blue Sea but it is NOT popular, because it makes some unkind insinuations about the industry.  So don't quote it, just use it for background knowledge. )

If you haven't been on a cruise before, you might want to check out http://www.cruisesavvy.com/savvyguide , especially the Intro to Cruises.

You can also contact me through my Yahoo profile if you want to know more about Princess and the industry.

Congrats on the interview, and good luck!
