Princess Cruises -- Southern Caribbean Excursion choices?

We are going away in February on a 10-day Southern Caribbean Cruise... my parents, my sister and her daughter and my friend and I. My friend and I are in our early 20s, and we have picked the following excursions, if you have done them or others at the following places, please list what you liked/disliked and why!

ANTIGUA: Antigua Off-Road Adventure

ST. LUCIA: Toraille Waterfall Tour

BARBADOS: Tiami Sail & Turtle Adventure

ST. KITTS: We are renting a van and touring around ourselves.

ST. THOMAS: We are likely shopping as we hear there is great duty free, plus the less excursions we do, the more we have to spend!

That is all folks, thanks in advance for any/all of your suggestions!

  1. Of your list, I have only been to St. Thomas.  I actually was not too into the shopping there.  It is probably a great place to shop if you are buying expensive jewels or designer things, but not so great for souvenirs.  What I loved about St. Thomas was taking the Skyride up to this high lookout point and bar.  The frozen drinks are fabulous and there are so many great photo opportunities overlooking the water and St. Thomas.  I would recommend that.  By the way, I am in my early 30's.

  2. In St Thomas, l went to Diamond's International and bought a piece of jewelry. l carefully counted out the money {and l am in the finance biz} and the clerk went to the back room with my money and the piece to get me a jewelers bag, she returned and then counted out the money, and announced l was $20.00USD short! I argued, but they began closing the store and told me l better hurry as l was going to miss the ship leaving...the owner glowered at me and l felt very threatened, I knew l had to give them the extra money or l wouldn't get my jewelry, so l did. I had to talk the taxi driver into taking a part payment with some of my personal belongings in order to get back to the ship in time. I reported this to Carnival and they did absolutely nothing, not even taking a note.  so be careful!

  3. Its terrible y'all not coming by Jamaica:P, but i heard st croix and st thomas has good duty free for true, at least shopping in st croix was fun! as for barbados-since its not summer, prices for that excursion should be reasonable and it was fun for me too although we have a version of  that here

  4. Go to CruiseCritic.com, "Boards", "Ports of Call" for all the advice you could possibly want [and if not, you can ask!].

If you want to do "serious" shopping, be sure and shop around at home first, so you'll know your prices.

  5. I can't believe you don't have snorkeling on your itinerary!  Geeze.  Buy yourself some gear here, and bring it.  It's about the only thing I love doing on those beautiful island's beaches.  You've got two off road adventures...use these to stop at some beaches and go snorkeling!  Have fun!

  6. freeekin' BLAST!

  7. I JUST got back from a Princess Southern Carribean cruise in December--

First off, DO NOT tour around St. Kitts, it really isn't all that--i was VERy disappointed, it is poverty stricken, and the sugar cane fields are being torn down, the best thing to do there is to take a catamaryn over to nevis-they show you all of the very nice resorts (hiltons, 4 Seasons) and also I believe you can snorkel--very pretty!!!

St. Lucia is BEAUTIFUL and has some great snorkeling and diving!

St. thomas we took a catamaryn over to St. John which was STUNNING!!!! The coral reef, and views were amazing-- I have been to St. thomas many times-- the shopping is great, the city is fairly safe, and the beaches are very pretty!!!

    Good LUCK, and have fun!!!!!
