  1. We cruised the Mexican Riviera on the Diamond Princess in April '05 and had a fabulous time. It is a beautiful ship,

In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we recently completed our second Princess Cruise over the Holidays.

You'll have a great time. Enjoy your cruise!

  2. i have never been on that ship before but i have been on two other princess ships and they were amazing.  you will never want to go on anyother kind of vacation but a cruise after you get back

  3. We were on the sister ship, the Sapphire and it's a beautiful ship.  Both ships started sailing in 2004 so they're not too old.  They're both considered mega ships, which we love, but some people preferred the smaller, more intimate ships.

Princess ships have some nice features.  If you want to take less clothes, there's self-service coin-operated Laundromats on each residential deck.  When you book, you'll be asked for your dining preference: either traditional or anytime.  Traditional means you'll be assigned to a table and either main or late seating.  You'll have the same tablemates and waitstaff the whole cruise.  A big advantage is that the really good waiters get to know your tastes and anticipate your needs best.  Anytime means that you go to the anytime dining room when you want to eat dinner.  If you go at a very popular time, you'll end up with a wait.  Sometimes you can make reservations when you first board for a time.

You can also choose to dine at a specialty restaurant such as Sabinitinis for a charge (I think $20) on any night.  You can also dine at the casual buffet, the Horizon Court, which is open 24 hours/day.

During the day, the grill and the pizzaria by one of the pools is open.  You can also buy ice cream by the pools but if you can wait until mid-afternoon, there's free ice cream (homemade with toppings available) in the Horizon court.

and speaking of pools, the Diamond has a retractable roof over one of the pools.  So if the weather is iffy, you can still go swimming.
