What was Princess Diana's legacy? what impact did she leave on the world today? what do we remember her for?

Only the people who read the glossy magazines perceive her as having left a legacy. She did nothing that her position did not require, she had the money given to her to do it and she made sure cameras were around to record it

Her legacy is her boys.

She had an amazing impact on the world in many ways in my opinion.  She changed the way the world viewed people with HIV/AIDS.  Diana showed the world that they deserved love and deserved to be given a fighting chance to live.  I can still see her on TV holding the hand of a man with AIDS with NO GLOVES!  that was unheard of.  At that time it was thought you could get AIDS by casual contact and she held the people and kissed their cheeks.  

Another way I think she impacted the world in a way was the way she raised her boys...they (esp. Harry) are doing the things that she did.  They are taking their titles and doing something with them to help people that are less fortunate.  The monarchy was always somewhat cold and distant from the common people, especially the sick.  They carried out their royal 'duties' but weren't warm and loving the way Diana was.  She was the mother of the future king of England and when you watch those boys work with children or talk to the sick they genuinely care...they have her warmth.  She changed the way royals conduct themselves in a way.  

William will raise his children that way, so will Harry.  Eventually it will just branch out.

That's what I remember her for.

Diana represented many charities that ranged from health care,mental health care,marriage counseling,domestic abuse,homelessness,the arts,anti-land mine campaigning...

Diana had the reputation for being the caring royal.She was the first royal to meet and shake hands with an AIDS patient.She got involved with the families of cancer patients,visiting them at their homes.She took William and Harry to homeless shelters so they could see for themselves that not everyone lives a privileged life like theirs.Diana visited many countries that were dealing with left-over landmines responsible for killing and maiming thousands of people per year.She opened hospitals that made artificial arms,legs,saw what was causing the injuries and decided to make the public take notice of the land mine problem.

Diana will be remembered for her beauty,her caring personality and for the fractured fairy-tale of a marriage and untimely demise caused by paparazzi gone amok.

I think she left a big impact on the world. Her sons to name a few. But, her commitment to making the world a better place is what will be missed the most. A great role model and example for the world. She was involved in various charities for children, AIDS, the homeless and was against the use of land mines. I personally have great respect for her contributions and am saddened by her death.
