Okay people I want only serious answers.I was just curious about this because I know that Princess Diana went out with some muslim men.As in Dodi Fayed.I was wondering what would happen if Prince William or Prince Henry "Harry" fell in love with and married a muslim american woman?I personally don't feel like it is a threat because after all she wouldn't even come close to a spot for the throne.I'm sorry ya'll I don't really know that much on how the British royal system works. And why does the queen have to be a virgin?

  1. Princess Diana could go out with Muslim men because she wasn't in the line of succession.

Prince William would encounter problems if he decided to marry a Muslim woman as he will be head of the church one day and she would probably have to convert to Anglicanism before marriage (as did Prince Philip -from Greek Orthodoxy). Prince Harry is not bound by the same rules as he is extremely unlikely to inherit the throne unless William never has children but it would create problems if he married a Muslim, although the law only stipulates Catholics it was drafted in the 18th Century when Islam was a relgion generally not found in this country.

The Queen is not a virgin (after all she has four chiildren), Queen Elizabeth I was known as the Virgin Queen because she never married.

  2. There is absolutely no legal impediment to Prince William or Prince Harry marrying a Muslim woman.

The idea of the bride being a virgin simply comes from an old belief that a virgin would not be promiscuous after marriage, and any children she gave birth to would be her husband's offspring.

  3. Nothing wrong with marrying a Muslim.  But people in line for the British throne just can't marry a Roman Catholic and still be eligible to inherit the throne.

In the past, young women were required to be virgins, to ensure that any child born after the wedding was truly the child of her husband, and not of any dalliance she may have had before her marriage. In the times of no pregnancy tests, it was the only sure-fire way of guaranteeing paternity.

  4. No, she would not be a threat at all. In fact, the British succession law is only against the Catholics. However, she must convert and become a member of the Anglican Communion in order to marry Prince William or Prince Harry.

Back in the days all "princesses/queens-to'be" must be virgins, as it symbolizes purity, innocence and untouched by other men, however, in modern times this isn't much of a big issue anymore.

Any British royal members have the right to marry whoever they want, however, they will just be displaced from the line of succession if they do not follow the British Line of Succession law. If they want to give up their claim and right to the throne for love, than so be it. A few royal members already done that in the past, and they are still living happily ever after.

  5. The princes must marry Anglican/Protestant if they wish to remain in the line of succession. As to the question of virginity,no one really knows who's a virgin or not unless some unworthy boyfriend sells stories of a torrid romance to the tabloid press. The requirement is that the person have a good reputation, not be criminal in behavior,to have made good, sound, moral

choices in life. The Royal family is supposed to be made up of upstanding citizens and good role models(I know that this sounds odd because of the way this current group has been acting;but the Queen has behaved herself,I think).

  6. She was not Princess Diana of Wales, she was "Diana, Princess of Wales."

If Prince William or Prince Harry chose to marry a Muslim American woman, she would doubtless be thoroughly investigated by British security services as well as...even more ominously...journalists from every English speaking nation on the planet.

They wouldn't do a physical exam, but if she had a serious past...it would be a problem.

  7. Yeah you really don't know how the system works AT ALL.  Prince William is in line for the throne after Charles, his wife would theoretically be the Queen of England, and she would be the mother of the future heirs  It would be a major deal, and not allowed because she was married (read about Edward VIII), and the children must be reared in the Church of England; that alone would cause problems in the Muslim World, as well.   At this point, Harry is in line for the throne after William, and THAT is very close.  He's going to be severely restricted in who he marries, AT LEAST until the time that William produces an heir.

I don't know that the Queen "has" to be a virgin, they could always say William and she had fixed that situation, but at least it needs to be known whether OR NOT she is a virgin.
