i was wondering how the princess cruises were. I would be traveling with 2 adults, kids ages 13, 11, and 4 month old. We were thinking of going to the Eastern caribbean...i looked into pricing the cruise out, and it was relitivley cheap. How are those cruises in general? Is there alot to do for kids? (for the 13 and 11 year old) is the food good? I heard carnival wasnt so great, and disney is ridiculous...can any one recomend any other great cruise lines that would be suitable for all of us? I need as much info as i can get! thank you...

  1. Princess is fantastic. They're an elegant yet relaxed way to travel, and really strive to treat each guest royally. Your 13 and 11 year old should be fine, as Princess has great youth activity counselors, child and teen centers and depending on your ship, several pools and entertainment options which are kid-friendly. Your 4 month old will probably be as content taking a nap in a crib as going on a cruise; however, if I remember correctly, Princess offers an in-room nanny service at a slight surcharge if you'd like an evening alone.

The food is great on Princess, though perhaps not as good as Celebrity and Holland America Line, it is still miles ahead of Carnival, NCL and probably about the same as Royal Caribbean. Their excursions tend to be expensive but worth the price.

Overall, on a scale of 1 - 10, I'd probably give Princess an 8.5. Carnival would place around a 6 and Royal Caribbean around a 7.5. Celebrity and HAL would take top honors with 9.5 each. Regardless of what you do, it'll be a lot of fun for you and your entire family.

    Have fun!

  2. I haven't been on a princess cruise but plan to over spring break. I have heard great things about princess though so I have no doubt. I went to the eastern caribbean on the carnival valor. Might be cheaper then the princess but not totally sure. I have heard alot of people complain about carnival but the cruise we took to the Eastern Caribbean was amazing. It was like the perfect cruise. Food was delicious, crew were fantastic, the ports were lots of fun. There was also a great kids program on Carnival. So if you really want to go to the eastern caribbean, the carnival valor is the way to go. The ship is only 3 years old so its in great condition. The ports, Bahamas, St Thomas and St Maarten are lots of fun, great beaches.

Thats the only carnival i've been on, so maybe some of the other ships aren't as great. But the valor, i would rate it a 5/5.

Disney is suppost to be very expensive, so if you don't want to pay alot, I wouldn't go with them.

    Try www.vacationstogo.com

    They have some awesome deals.

Hope you enjoy your cruise, whatever line you decide to sail with!

  3. As for food and things to do they all offer different things for all ages. Princess and Norwegian are about the best for price and both will provide you with an excellent cruise. You can also call 1-800-Princess and they will answer any question you have. I think you will enjoy your cruise as well as everyone else.

    Enjoy.
