Principal Race Officer Peter Reggio hoping for better racing on Day 5 of 2012 Finn Gold Cup
Sailing fans present at the Falmouth waters had to go back home without enjoying the fun because there was no racing on the fourth day of the 2012 Finn Gold Cup.
Even the sailors did not like the situation as they were hoping for a positive campaign on fourth day as well but unfortunately the breeze did not allow them to launch their boats into the water.
The Principal Race Officer (PRO), Peter 'Luigi' Reggio was quite enthusiastic about the fourth day proceedings because the participants were looking very exciting about the racing. He was ready to supervise the racing when he witnessed the absence of the
winds over the racing area. Reggio asked the participants to wait for the breeze to fill in and then start the racing.
The breeze rose up a little and started gusting up to seven knots. The PRO launched the racing but unfortunately the breeze came down instantly as the sailors set their sail. Reggio had to call it off because there was not enough wind to continue the proceedings.
Speaking to the local media, Reggio said that they were planning to hopefully get started after 12.30 looking at the breeze starting to build up earlier in the day but the forecast was never brilliant and the day certainly proved it.
The regatta is in the middle of its campaign on the Falmouth waters and the environment is getting more competitive. Tough competitions among the fleet are expected within the next couple of days. Reggio is hoping for better forecast on fifth day so that
the regatta can be completed with positive outcome.
