Principality Junior Wales Open and Radyr Golf Club sign a two-year deal
A new deal has been signed between the Principality Junior Wales Open officials and Radyr Golf Club for two consecutive years.
Now, players will enjoy the fifth qualifying event at the sensational venue of the Radyr Golf Club, Wales in the United Kingdom.
“We are delighted that our challenging course will form a qualifying venue for the Principality Junior Wales Open,” Ron Jones, the Radyr Golf Club captain, said.
This year, the tournament will be huge and more entertaining as the new Welsh site is regarded as the toughest and the most attractive for the qualifiers.
The course was designed by the famous architect Harry S Colt, at the outskirts of Cardiff. The fifth qualifying event is scheduled on April 13, 2012.
Four of the junior tournaments will be held at other sites of Wales. The event will start at Royal St David’s, Harlech on April 4, and then it will be on April 5, at Langland Bay.
The third will be played at Builth Wells on April 11, and the fourth one is going to be held at Marriott St Pierre on April 12.
After these four entertaining venues, all the qualifiers will move on to the grand final in August, at The Twenty Ten Course.
The grand final of the qualifying round is also interesting to watch, as it has to be played on the Ryder Cup site of 2010.
The European Team won the title amazingly on the same site as it defeated the US team by 14 ½ and 13 ½ scores.
The entry fee is kept very low so that every golf lover can try their luck on the course. Only £15 will be charged from regional qualifier to perform through 18-hole golf course.
“We are proud to support grass roots sport in Wales and we were delighted by the enthusiasm shown by the junior golfers participating when we became involved as title sponsors for the first time last year,” Graeme Yorston, Chief Operating Officer at Principality
Building Society, said.
“It was a pleasure to walk around golf courses like Langland Bay and see youngsters relishing their first taste of national competition”.
Principality Building Society is the lead sponsor of the tournament and will continue for two years, effective from 2012.
Through this effort, junior golf will flourish and more talented faces will emerge in the near future.
