I want to print postage for a First Class packet online through Royal Mail but I can't print on to a sticker. If I were to print it on paper and sellotape it to the package would it still be acceptable?

  1. Yup. Have done it loads of times.

  2. Yes, there's no problem doing that, just make sure that it's well stuck down and won't come off.

  3. postie here - as everyone else has  said go ahead there should be no problem.

However, don't try to use the same label again for something else as some do try to do.  There is a bar code or some other code printed onto the label which is read by the sorting machines.  If the label is out of date, (they have a limited life span so only print on the day you send it), or has been used before, or has even been duplicated, the machine kicks it out and the recipient will be sent a bill for the full price of postage plus £1 handling fee.

  4. I usually print direct onto envelopes but for a parcel I would try just taping it on. I don't see why not.
