Printer Setup not working

Question

I am trying to set up a HP Deskjet F2180 on a MacBook. I have used the latest software download from the HP website but after I have installed it and gone to the set up part it tells me that the installer does not support the device.

I have also tried manually installing it through the printer setup section on system preferences but it cannot see a printer there. I am using a USB connection. I have uninstalled and installed the software a couple of times, and also asked for help from HP (who sent instructions on how to do a manual uninstall and then told me to just install it again) but I get the same result each time. The software seems to install fine, but it can't see the printer.
