Priscilla Long clinches Girl’s Singles U17 title at Northwest Super Regional – Badminton news
USA’s emerging player Priscilla Long sailed smoothly in the Girl’s Singles U17 final against Madeline Sporkert and clinched the crown in style at the 2013 Northwest Super Regional in USA, on Monday, May 27.
The lofty Priscilla, who was the top seed in the championship, did not face any considerable trouble in the final battle and took just 33 minutes to earn glory in front of her home crowd.
Priscilla showed her brilliance in the opening game and took it easily. However, she had to work hard in the following game to finish off the match in straight sets with a commanding total of 21-8 and 21-17.
On the other hand, the third seeded Madeline failed to continue her giant killing run on court. She could not dominate the pace of rallies and also committed unforced errors on critical stages that caused her defeat in straight games.
Priscilla delivered remarkably well from the starting rallies of first set as she played with spectacular speed and took over the control of the game.
The impressive craft and tricky game plan assisted Priscilla to keeps her rival in all sorts of trouble on court.
Priscilla progressed with a superb speed in the starting half and remained in lead on score board until the interval.
The underdog Madeline failed to play positive game after the one-minute break as she lost her focus in the arena.
Priscilla did not reduce the pace of the game at any stage and remarkable grabbed the first set with a staggering 21-8 score on the board.
However, Madeline did not repeat previous mistakes in the opening half of second game and she did not let her rival lead the game this time.
Priscilla played with aggression but failed to set up a huge lead this time. Until the one-minute interval, she could manage only a small gap on the board.
Nonetheless, the lofty Priscilla took over the control in the concluding part by increasing her speed. She did not miss any chance to maintain a considerable gap and managed to bag the second game with a decent margin of 21-17.
