  1. yes - it can ( or used to have) 2 meaning

there are regular prisons that have small hospitals in them - because prisoners get sick, too.  sometime deathly ill.

there used to be a different type of prison - really for crazy people - that type usually had a name something like "institution for the criminally insane"

  2. Many prisons have what is called "infirmaries". I supose they might be called hospitals in some states. Inmates who need more frequent care and.or observation are placed there.

It is somewhat like a hospital unit/ward. Critically ill patients are usually not kept there, but sent to a local hospital {with shackles and a guard).

Infirmaries are also utilized when an inmate is terminal - as in cancer and/or AIDS.

  3. In answer to your two questions.

    1.Yes.

    2.Prisoners.

  4. yes....prisoners trying to avoid shower rape

  5. yes there are my mom works at one

what they do is have one cell for one person each and they are only there if they need medical care

the nurses are escorted in wit a policeman to give pills and such

Read the block below "General," specifically about Duane Waters Hospital, which is where inmates in MDOC go to die (or be killed through incompetance and apathy).
