Prison inmate locater?

I've searched and I can find inmate searches for some state prisons, but is there a website that will search through ALL U.S. prisons at one time? Checking a state prison, I couldn't find the person I was looking for through a search online.

  1. If it will help you, you can call any state prison that is near you, ask for visitation and identify the individual you are looking for.

You will more than likely need either his date of birth or social security number ( if you dont have his inmate number) to aid in identification ( in case of a fairly common name).

The data base for the prison also has a state wide link and they can look up where the inmate is currently incarcerated.

This is considered public knowledge and they are allowed to give this over the phone.

PS.... If you intend on writing, make sure to get his inmate number. It is almost like a social. Each person has their own number and that is how we identify each inmate.

Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you

  2. I do not know of a whole US one for State prisons. If they are in a prison it will be under the prison service for the state they were sentenced are in.

Unless it is Federal .  I believe Federal prisons do have one search for all Federal prisoners though. Try Google

  4. NO.  There is not a one shot site to locate an inmate.  The below link is for Federal Inmates; however, if you don't know what state your guy went to, you have little chance of tracking him down.  One option may be to contact the clerk of the court where he was found guilty.
