Pristiq and Pregnancy?

Question

just recently switched from Effexor to Pristiq. Found out im pregnant and am worried about this new med. Its labor day and i can't get a hold of my PCP till tomorrow to ask ?'s about it. I know Effexor was ok for pregnancy but is Pristiq? anyone on it? im taking 50 mg but bite it in half and only take 25 mg. Its hardly anything but i need to know.

If anyone is taking Pristiq or switched off due to pregnancy please inform me on what to do.

I will contact my doctor tomorrow but im in tears over here cuz im worried about my little one. (im not even a month pregnant but pregnant is pregnant.)

the website for pristiq says to not take it while being pregnant but it does not show a pregnancy category which goes from A to D the further along the letter in the alphabet the more dangerous it is during pregnancy. I would not take it until you can get a hold of your doctor I'm pretty sure there are anti-depressants that are okay for pregnancy but there a always risks. Stop taking it until you see your doc but don't freak out until then because until then you can't do anything about it. Check out the web site

I honestly don't know much about those medicines , but usually on the label it would say  "Keep away from children" or "if you are pregnant, nursing or may become pregnant", most likely if nothing like that appears on the label you should be ok, I would talk to my DR. anyway.

You should try to relax.  Stress won't help your situation either.  I don't have an answer for you.  I do hope it works out.  Try searching for the drug manufaturer number to ask them how it could possibly affect the fetus.  At least, it can't hurt.  ~Best Wishes & Congrats on your pregnancy!
