Private/Personalised Registration Plates?

I have a R reg (1997) and want to buy a personalised registration plate, the thing is i have found one i want and it starts with a T (T* **). I have heard that you cant buy a registration that will make your car look newer than it is, Could i buy this registration plate or not. I just want to know before i waste my money and find out that i cant have it.

No!  You can only put that on a 'T' reg or later.

However what you could do is but the mark and put it on retention ( It is retained on a certificate) until you buy a vehicle that is newer.
