  1. In my interview for boarding school I was asked a variety of questions. There will almost always be a question about education in general. I was asked about why education is important in today's world. Always get specific. The questions are almost always extremely general, they're not going to ask you "Why is education in Swaziland superior to education in Lesotho?" Or anything close to that. So you should take their extremely general question and get specific, be sure to cite specific examples. Impress them with your knowledge. Don't be overly precocious and use vocabulary that you would hear at an Oxford lecture.

When they ask you to "tell me about yourself", get specific! Bring up past personal experiences that are moving or interesting, make sure they view you as a unique asset to their school. As much as honesty is a good thing, Do Not, and I mean do not, talk too much about your negatives. If they ask you to talk about what you feel you need to improve on, turn it around and show them that you are improving instead of just saying something like, "I plan on working really hard in the future on my homework." What's of utmost importance is that the interviewer sees you as unique, interesting, and smart.

There will also probably be a question on current events. If you're completely unaware of what's going on in the world then it might be time that you start reading Time.com, CNN.com, et al, once a day. Usually most students stress so much about the interview that they panic even before the interview begins. I've never heard of an interview from any of my friends that was actually intense. Most of the times the interviewers are extremely kind and eager to hear what you have to say. Don't stress, be calm, and you'll do fine. Best of luck.
