Which elementary school would you take your kids to, a private school or a good high rating (9 or 10) rating public school ? The private schools programs are structured differently than the public. Which is a better one to discipline, encourage, support your child to want to learn more and be better prepared for college ?

I would prefer teachers or parents to answer my questions, but of course anyone who has an opinion is also welcome to answer my questions also. Thank you for your honest opinions.

  1. Private schools are more structured and academic, smaller classes, more emphasizes on disciple and character development, less services if your child has a disability, teachers may have better teaching materials or more state of the art  technology, may emphasis more art or drama, foreign language in elementary schools

Public schools offer service i.e;  speech, special Education, larger classes, better after school activities, NCLB - heavy emphasizes on passing test or teacher teaching to the test

Our public schools are really good where I live but  the classes are HUGE 29, in kindergarten. We also have AMAZING private schools as well. I like the idea of putting  in private school for elementary years to set a good foundation.

  2. A private school offers specialized programs, maintains better discipline and safety standards, pays more attention to individual child and give a push towards college. However private schools are expensive and academic reputation of school varies. To learn more, please visit :

Within the public school system, Charter Schools and Magnet schools both blur the distinction between public and private schools. A good high rating (9 or 10) rating public school is a good option. I'll definitely consider a good public school.

There are great private schools and there are great public schools. The trick is finding the school that best fits your child's needs. It's a good idea to research the schools that interest you and to get a true picture of the school, visit in person.
