Private Yahoo group made public?

Question

I started a Yahoo group and made it private (by invitation only) because I didn't want certain people to find out about it. I made sure it was unlisted. One of those people found out about it and claimed it popped up on her groups list and then disappeared, but I think that somebody gave her the link. Is there any way that people are informed of new groups being formed? It sounds so far fetched to me and I want to know if people are lying to me. Thanks.
