Private & ammature "ghost Hunters" Need your advise here....?

Question

Altho, I have had so many experiences & have delt with them over the years, I would like to start "SLOWLY" doing my own investigations to try to help people deal with paranormal experiences.

How did some of you start?

Now, I don't want to go into a home or place "head strong" & "cocksure". I don't want to go in & prevoke hostility just to make something "show itself". To me, that is really on the stupid side. Also, it can make things worse for the home owners.

I really am seriously considering do this, but am not sure how to go about getting started as I have only done this for myself & a few close friends.

Skeptics, please this is a legitimate question & if you don't have anything respectful or helpful to add to this, then don't waste my time or yours answering.

first,a ghost as they're called has no intention of hurting u,they are very curious,seem to get into things,move little things,is best,i've found,to try for a friendship relation,just talk normal,not excited,he will pick up on that,also they are ever where,not just an old house,i started about 15yrs ago,on a bet,and got hooked,i have 2 now living here,don't bother anyone.just give them a chance and u will see for u r self,and don't worry bout lights,it doesn't bother them,by the way,my kids started calling one freddy b4 it came out in a movie.that one was a hand full,now its mary an hank,yes if u want call me crazy,BUT WHO CARES

Ok first the spelling isn't that bad =(  and second, I have no personal exp on this, love to read about it, or watch shows on it, but if I were to get into it, I would write another "ghost hunters" crew, kinda like TAPS or whoever else, and ask for advice, in my opinion they would be helpful

Well most ghost hunters learn the ropes so to speak from the large ghost hunting organizations. There are many out there but two large ones that lead the way. the International Ghost Hunters society which is what  I am a member of simply because their theories are in line with my personal experience. they are a little more expensive in their home study course than others but luckily most of their information is posted in their free articles on their website.

The other is the American Ghost society but the good news there is  for less than $20.00 you can buy Troy Taylor's book  A Ghost Hunter's guide and in it he tells all his methods. I studied it and it Will give someone like you a start but i found it lacking in many areas especially the orb and photo section. the IGHS is better at teaching people who to  examine photos and rule out the normal.

Other books are available like The Ghost Hunters Bible by Trent Brandon There is also two other books that helped me but I can't remember the name right now and am too lazy to get up an look but if you really want to know email me and I will look for them.

I forgot to mention the Troy Taylors book has forms you can  reproduce to ask questions that need to be asked .  

Whe investigationg homes and businesses you need to ask some very personal questions to get to the bottom of a haunting therefore confidentuality is a must..

Fancy equiment is not essential. The above book describes how the famous ghost hunters in the past did their research. A good compass will do as well as expensive EMF meters. A simple point and shoot camera with 400 speed film will do fine I like to use 800 speed low light film. A regular tape recorder either battery or digital will work. so a compass, a camera and recorder will get you started.

I would start by finding an established group to go with on investigations. If they are serious about what they do and not a "social club" then they will welcome any help offered. The link below should allow you to find a group in your area.

That said just because a group is established doesn't mean they have good procedures. I would pay close attention to what they do and how they do it with an eye toward making it better. After maybe three investigations (learn the basics first) then you can start offering suggestions to the group.

I would also read some books on investigating the paranormal also with a critical eye for flaws and what could be improved. I listed two basic books to start with below.

Also it is important to know your skills and where you might be the most useful. Are you an excellent photographer or can you easily interview people without asking them leading question? In other words what do you bring to the table? Answering that question will help you with deciding what approach you should take to investigating.

The way to start is exactly that, slowly. Its always good to try to accompany a few experienced people around and gain knowlege of what your going to do. Before beginning, always have prayer with the Lord. Not only for your own protection, but for the spirit in need of moving on as well. I always show up early, get the lay of the place, figure out where I want to check out and why, do I feel something? To give you an example, this house I am about to investigate, has a basement where the husband/father was stabbed fell down the stairs and died at the foot of them. So I am going to go in and get my base readings looking for any sources of EMFs. Electrical boxes, transformers for door bells, that type of stuff. Then I will leave my Camcorder by itself in the basement for a few hours after I have cleared the home completely of people and animals, shut the door. and see what happens. after a couple of hours I will retun to the house and continue my investigation into the upprer floor and the basement using DVR and camera, and seeing if the emfs have changed. the second night I will do the same in the upstairs, clearing the home leaving my camcorder alone and leaving it for a couple of hours. Then I will return and continue the physical walk thru using everything I have in my kit. I have found that leaving the areas without anything or anyone in the place seems to get good evidence. Ghosts like to come out when nobody is around to bother them. quick tips, if you can do it. Unplug all appliances including the Refridgerator, TVs, stereos, clocks. Unlike others, I dont go completely "dark" a couple of lights are fine with me. I mean if your gonna go dark, hit the main breaker to the place and go "dark"!

I started doing this purely from having my own experiences with hauntings. After denying them for years, I lived in a house where I could no longer deny that something was going on! I began to research the phenomena, and found there were hotels and other public places I could go and check out. but being by myself, I had no idea of the equipment I needed, so for the first couple of years I was so to speak in the dark about it. I gradually went to cemetaries where there were reports of hauntings like mining towns and old buildings. You will need to get some equipment, and at first it will be costly, but get only what you really need at first, then accumulate what you want later.

I'm afraid the skeptics are right, there is absolutely no evidence for the existence of ghosts. We live in a very boring world.

their spare time.

It's spelled amateur and you should have used "advice" instead of advise. (I think computers have invented a new language.lol)  I don't know anything about ghost hunting...I usually run from them. "nuff" is pretty smart about these things. Hope you find the help you need. I do know that there is a need for this. I sure needed someone to help me years ago.Because no one believed me...it turned out really really bad.The churches just laugh at you and call you a kook  or crazy. I think they don't even realize that there are lots of spirits in the churches.

I am not a not see ghots but I see Guardian  angels . Habe you ever wounderd why you see and hear what you see and hear.? I have had it all my life and have just not started Qing it.
