Private and Unknown?

Question

what's the difference between a private call and an unknown call? i always thought they were the same thing until recently when i saw a private AND an unknown call on my missed list. anybody know the difference? also, if a number is not in my contacts, that number shows up as missed, it's not classified as unknown....if that makes sense? haha

private calls are usually those who block their number before they call. Unknown numbers are usually collection agencies, solicitors,  and sometimes people who call you from other states that don't carry your phone service. Sometimes I can get a call from a extension phone at a hospital and it will show unknown call but for the most part it's solicitors and collection agencies
