Question:

Private health insurance plans?

In Maryland?

Private family plan, reputable company, good coverage.

I currently work just for the benefits and my company has switched to a HSA, and the coverage is not as good. I could stay at home w/ my 6 month old if we find good coverage.

Any help/links?

  1. Some of the top companies that you will want to consider include:

    1. Aetna

    2. Blue Cross Blue Shield

    3. United Healthcare

    4. Humana

    5. Celtic

The key is to make sure that you have comprehensive major medical health insurance in case any thing big happens. Stay away from medical discount cards, indemnity plans, and plans that have annual limits or procedure limits.

  3. Yes, well, family coverage with a low deductible usually runs $1200 a month or so.  And probably won't include maternity benefits (if you want more children).

You'll FIND a plan with a reputable company and good coverage, through a local, independent agent who is licensed to sell insurance in your state.  Start with the guy that does your house/car insurance, and ask him for a referral if he doesn't do health.
